Sensory Storytime is a fun and less structured storytime designed for 0-5 year old children with sensory challenges and their families.
Sensory Storytime is a fun, less structured storytime and non-judgmental zone designed for 0-5 year old children with sensory challenges and their families. It involves books, songs, movement and therapeutic play that incorporate the five senses.
Sensory Storytime will differ from a regular storytime in the following ways:
- The use of a picture schedule to manage transitions.
- The availability of fidget toys to enhance focus and calm.
- A flexible approach which allows sensory seekers to roam.
- Room opens 5 minutes before storytime starts to allow the children to explore the environment and become acclimated to the room.
Seating is limited to 10 families on a first come, first served basis.

Designed by HAS Architects, the Rainbow Library originally opened as a storefront in 1985. In March 1994, the library moved to its present 26,800-square-foot facility. Located northwest in the city, just off I-95, this location serves its active residents with over 70,300 volumes and features an outdoor amphitheater.
