Intro to Machine Sewing and Safety

MakerspaceStart your sewing journey! Upon completion, you'll be approved to access other library sewing programs, events, and open-sew labs at various locations.
In this beginner class, you’ll learn:
- Machine safety
- Set-up
- How to identify parts of the machine
- How to thread a machine and bobbin
- How to use the machine
Once you’ve completed this class, our staff will verify your competency with the machine and grant you approval to register for other age-appropriate sewing events at various Las Vegas-Clark County library locations.
This class is for ages 12 and older. All supplies are provided, though seating and sewing machines are limited. Registration is required, with one participant per registration, and participants must register online. Late arrivals to the class will not be accepted after 10 minutes.

Located in southeast Las Vegas, the Whitney Library opened in June 1994 with notable architectural design by Holmes Sabatini. This 24,500-square-foot library houses 57,500 volumes and features a 198-seat concert hall.
