The Hypnotiques, led by Swinging Tiki Duchess Kitty Chow, play vintage Hawaiian, Tiki Exotica, and retro-lounge music plus classic and obscure gems from the 1920s-1960s.
The Hypnotiques consist of five members hailing from the Big Island of Hawaii, across the land to a different sea - Manhattan Island, England, and of course, the 9th Island. An exotic magic brought these five creatures together to the City of Sin. While scoping out Las Vegas as an option to move to from San Francisco, vocalist and ukulele player Kitty Chow ran into her old friend Brent Paul, who was the guitarist in their previous Honolulu rocksteady/soul band, Soul Revival Sound System. Brent had been in Vegas for a few years and she asked if she moved, could they start a new band? Duh…fate had made the choice of whether to move. Rounding out the quintet is bass player, Robert John Kley, Jonny Bowler on drums, and Brett Barnes on Vibraphone. The Tiki gods looked down and smiled.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
