Join the Indian Springs Library, Francisco Silva, and Daniel Clark in our dark sky community for a talk about the stars, space, and how to take photos of them!
Join the Library for an evening you will absolutely not forget! We'll start in-branch at 6:15 p.m. for some talks by our amazing guests, Francisco Silva and Daniel Clark, about space, stars, and how to take photos of them. At 7 p.m., we'll move out to the baseball field behind the Library where Francisco will have telescopes set up, and Daniel will be available for tips and tricks for taking photos of the night sky! The Library will have a couple of tripods available for folks to use while here, so please bring your camera and cell phones!
All attendees to the lectures will receive a raffle ticket, where we'll have a telescope to give away before we head up to the field! Attendees must be here by the start time at 6:15 p.m. to receive a raffle ticket.
About Francisco: Francisco Silva's mother introduced him to the night sky when he was about 6 years old. At 14, he got his first telescope, which is when he fell in love with the Astronomy. Since 2018, he has had the privilege of being the Vice President for Outreach for the Las Vegas Astronomical Society. This will be Francisco's third event with the Indian Springs Library and we are excited to see him back. See more about Francisco at https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/ambassadors/2350/
About Daniel: I am a professional photographer operating in my home town of Henderson (Las Vegas), Nevada. I earned a degree in photography from the University of Nevada, and have since applied myself in a wide range of fields. With every subject I photograph I aim to find the one image that tells the story most clearly. Along the way I gather additional moments, adding context and depth, to create a rich story that brings my subjects clearly, honestly, and beautifully into focus. This will be Daniel's second event with the Indian Springs Library. At his previous event, he gave some great tips and tricks, along with spending time with our attendees to use their cameras. We're happy he accepted our invitation to return to see our dark skies! See more about Daniel at his webpage at dclark.photo
This event is free and open to the public. We invite younger folks to attend with their adult caregiver, as we want to respect the telescopes and tripods. No registration required, but space in the building may be limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please call the Library at 702.879.3845.

Combined with the Senior Center, the Indian Springs Library opened in its current facility in February 1987. This 1,200-square-foot library houses over 4,800 volumes and serves nearly 1,000 residents, most of which are military personnel and their families from the Nevada Test Site and Training Range.
