Film Introduction. Screening of noir film. Short discussion after film.
Are you a fan of noir film and/or are interested in the genre? Well, join us on the third Wednesday of the month in the library for the Flamingo Film Club: Dark Alley Wednesdays. We will offer an introduction to the film noir selection, provide interesting little tidbits concerning the film, the film's actors and director, as well as any other anydotes related to the film. We will then screen the film on two (2) screens. Afterwards, we will discuss the film, the film noir genre, as well as any other movies related to the film selection. Possible questions: Was the femme fatale a true femme fatale? Was the film miscast? How does the film fit in the definition of Film Noir?
*Note: Film selections will primarily come from the golden age of film noir: 1940s to early 1950s, but we will occasionnaly screen and discuss neo noir films.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
