Understanding teenage behavior and increasing parenting knowledge and skills is explored in this 1 time workshop for parents with adolescents. Parents are encouraged to bring teens to participate.
Being a parent of a teenager offers it's many challenges in today's world of social media, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, dating, bullying, family dynamics and more. Not to mention significant brain growth and development occurs during teenage years (and continues into the twenties) making teens more likely to act on impulse, misread social cues and engage in risky behaviors to name a few. Parents who understand their teen's development, and learn more about what to expect, will be more prepared and better able to handle behavioral changes and challenges.
Some of our goals:
The program series includes parents and teenagers (or just parents).
During the workshop families engage in positive discussion and parent-teen activities.
Families receive free materials and books to continue the positive family engagement and learning at home.
Open and free to the public. In partnership with UNR Extension. Limited to 12 families. Registration is required and per family. For more information, please call 702.507.3947
