Sensory Storytime is a fun, less structured storytime designed for children ages 2-10 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other sensory sensitivities. Registration required.

The storytime involves books, songs, movement and some sign language. It differs from our standard storytimes in the following ways:

  • The use of picture guides with activities.
  • The availability of fidget toys to enhance focus and calm.
  • One to two reciprocal activities to foster social interaction.
  • A flexible approach which allows sensory seekers to roam.
  • Room opens 10 minutes before storytime starts to allow the children to explore the environment and become acclimated to the room.
  • Low lighting & soft music for songs.

Limited to 5 families per session. Free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Minutes away from the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Valley Library originally opened in 1988 under the architectural design of Gary Congdon. Newly remodeled, this 25,645-sqaure-foot library houses nearly 58,000 volumes and serves a wide range of diverse populations.
