Your Story Matters - Discover the Writer Within
Winter Workshop Series
Monday, November 23
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Clark County Library
Paul C. Blau TheatreEveryone has stories worth telling. The challenge is learning how to recognize those meaningful moments and bring them to life on the page. Author Judi Moreo explains how to write your memories.
In this interactive 90-minute workshop, author, writing coach and professional speaker Judi Moreo will help participants discover the stories hidden within their own experiences. Participants will learn to choose a meaningful memory, craft an engaging opening, use sensory details and emotion to bring a story to life, and turn an experience into a story readers will want to follow. Through simple writing exercises and practical techniques, participants will begin writing a personal story during the workshop. No previous writing experience is necessary - only a willingness to remember, explore, and put words on paper. Participants will leave with the beginning of a story, practical tools they can continue using, and perhaps most importantly, a new appreciation for the stories only they can tell.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
