Large Conference RoomTim Curry April 19, 1946 - Aug 25, 2026 (aged 80). The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975, R, 1h 40m). CLUE (1985, PG, 1h 34m).
Born Timothy James Curry in Cheshire, England, he studied drama at the University of Birmingham and first made his name on the London stage. In 1973 he originated Dr. Frank-N-Further in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Two years later he brought that "sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania" to the screen. The film flopped on first release. Then midnight audiences in New York started shouting back at the screen, dressing up, and throwing rice. Fifty years later those screenings are still going. Curry's fearless, magnetic, completely unembarrassed performance is a big reason why. He didn't just play the part - he gave people permission to be loud, weird, and fully themselves.
A decade after that he played Wadsworth the Butler in Clue. I first became a fan in 1985 when my cousin rented it from the video store. I thought it was one of the best movies I'd ever seen, and that Tim Curry (as Wadsworth) was one of the great actors. His machine-gun timing and physical comedy hold the entire chaotic mansion together. That film also found its audience later and now has its own devoted following. I, myself, have lost count how many times I watched Clue.
Whether you discovered Tim as Frank-N-Further, Wadsworth, Pennywise, or the concierge who wouldn't give a Kevin a room, Curry had a rare gift: he made the outrageous look effortless and invited everyone to enjoy it too.
Fellow Tim Curry fans - come join us as we celebrate his life by watching two of his classics.
Free and open to the public.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
