Cold Case Investigations Special Event

Large Conference RoomTragedy struck the upscale community of Boulder, Colorado the day after Christmas when a child was found murdered in the basement of her family's home.
On the morning of December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey, mother to JonBenet, calls the police to report her 6-year-old daughter missing and a ransom note demanding $118,000 for her return. Police and friends of the family come to the home, but only JonBenet's bedroom is sealed off and treated as a crime scene. At approximately 1pm, upon recommendation by police, John Ramsey, JonBenet's father, and a friend discovered her body in the basement partially under a blanket with duct tape over her mouth and a cord around her neck and wrists.
Unaware of the forensic evidence he could be contaminating, John picks up the lifeless body of his daughter and carries her upstairs. The official autopsy report lists her cause of death as asphyxia by strangulation in combination with craniocerebral trauma. Her death was classified as a homicide.
Her case immediately gained nationwide attention due to her family's wealth, her participation in child beauty pageants, the perplexing ransom note, the early contamination of the crime scene and the suspicion surrounding the involvement of one or both of her parents. Thirty years later, the case still remains unsolved.
We will explore and examine the intruder theory and the theory that members of her family were involved in her untimely death.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
