In celebration of Black History Month, Rhythm & Dance invites the community to experience in 3 days the living traditions of Congolese dance and percussion.
Participants will explore six traditional Congolese rhythms – Esélégoî, Zébola, Kinguigila, Bouanga, Lorézo, and Esombi – discovering how Dance and drumming have long served as tools for communication, celebration, and community building.
The program features simultaneous dance and percussion sessions, a cultural talk, and hands-on learning designed for all ages and experience levels—no prior dance or Ngoma experience required. The workshop concludes with a free public performance, led by the instructors, celebrating Black cultural heritage and collective creativity. Workshop participants are welcome to join the instructors onstage and share in the final performance.
Free and open to the public. Participation is on a first-come, first-serve basis and may be limited. For more information, call 702.507.4017
