Kemet in the Desert Lecture Series featuring keynote speakers Ilia "Rashad" Muhammad and Dr. Anika Daniels-Osaze. The Series is hosted by Executive Director Mr. Oscar Robinson.
Kemet in the Desert Black Weekend 2024 Lecture Series will include Ilia “Rashad” Muhammad. An educator, author and revered researcher hailing from Memphis, TN. Known as an educational revolutionary, he is a graduate of The University of Memphis, completing his Master’s Degree in Education at Union University, Jackson, TN where his Capstone project unveiled “Racism in Education”. In theological and academic arenas, he is both lauded and feared for elucidating heavily misunderstood subject matters and bringing them to the forefront of public discourse. He has authored several highly acclaimed books including UFOS AND THE NATION OF ISLAM: The Source, Proof, And Reality Of The Wheels (2013) and Exposing The War Against Islam (2017). More recently he has produced the independent documentary series, “ANSWERED” which highlights the most important data pertaining to the UFO phenomena and its relevance to Black and indigenous people. His publications and presentations continue to challenge and confound world scholars regarding these global issues.

Rounding out the weekend will be Dr. Anika Daniels-Osaze who has studied Ancient Egypt (Kemet) for 30 years, focusing on language, spirituality, and ancient medicine. Dr. DanielsOsaze earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Linguistics and Cognitive Studies with her Master of Arts degree from New York University in Higher Education Administration and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management. She received her Doctor of Education from Northeastern University. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is the Associate Dean for Education in the School of Public Health and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management and holds an appointment as a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Daniels-Osaze has worked in student affairs for over 25 years specializing in health professions recruitment, program and curriculum development, academic advising, and financial aid counseling. She has helped to secure $12.4 million in funding for pipeline programs and scholarships at SUNY Downstate. In her current role, she facilitates all curriculum development and modifications, accreditation activities, program evaluation and quality improvement. Dr. Daniels-Osaze is an author in the anthology, What Would I Tell My Younger Self? Volume 1 and has been featured in several documentaries. Dr. Daniels-Osaze has received numerous awards including the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service; the Inspiring Leaders in STEM Award; and, the Dr. Edward R. Robinson, Jr. Medallion Award for Educational Excellence. Working as a volunteer staff member for the African Genesis Institute, she has mentored thousands of students, ages 7 to 14 as well as conducting lectures and tours to Kemet annually for students and adults. With her husband she has taken over 3,000 people to the African continent. Together they co-founded the Center for the Restoration of Ma’at, an institute teaching ancient African history.

The West Las Vegas Library opened to the Historic Westside Neighborhood on D Street in 1973 before moving to its current location on Lake Mead Boulevard in January 1989. In addition to offering a 298-seat theater, the African American Special Collection, and a state-of-the-art robot lab, this 38,900-square-foot library houses 27,700 volumes and has become a prominent part of the community.
