Geared towards beginning writers! Learn how to write by following hand-crafted prompts that will help you draw on your life experiences in a fun, creative way!
Everyone has a story. Our goal in this group is to help you feel comfortable telling that story. Led by Creative Writing MFA candidate Misty Hayes, each month we tackle prompts that are accessible to both self-care journalers and budding creative writers. Every session will explore a different topic (such as Characterization, Setting, Descriptive writing, Dialog, etc).
We'll begin with a short intro and brief discussion of the month's topic, followed by an hour of writing time (although writing for an hour is not required!). Then we will have space for discussions - share your writing if you like, or just talk about what you thought of the prompts!
Coffee and tea will be available for all participants. We recommend bringing your own journal or laptop, though we do have limited computer spaces available.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating may be limited and is first-come, first-served.

Buried in snow in the winter and cool during the hot days of summer, the Mount Charleston Library is located in Old Town, about 40 miles north of Las Vegas at an elevation of 7,200-feet. Opened in March 1987, the 2,800-square-foot facility houses 5,500 volumes and serves the beautiful community that surrounds it.
