UNR Extension Partners in Parenting brings a new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Family Engagement program for families with young children (ages 3-5).
UNR Extension Partners in Parenting brings a new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Family Engagement program for families with young children (ages 3-5). The 7-week program will focus on improving young children’s SEL related school readiness skills, working with parents/caregivers and children together in fun, educational activities, and supporting SEL for the whole family. Each 1.5 hour class will include a mini-lesson, book reading and hands-on activities. Free books and materials.

Lesson 2: Building a growth mindset
Lesson 3: Building theory-of-mind skills
Lesson 4: Communicating effectively
Lesson 5: Solving everyday problems and managing conflicts
Lesson 6: Practicing self-control/mindfulness
Lesson 7: Respecting and embracing others

This 41,015-square-foot library was completed in 2019 and is in the heart of the Latino community serving its residents with over 50,000 volumes. As the newest addition to the Library District, this location emphasizes many Spanish and bilingual materials, resources, and programs. It offers career services through the EmployNV Career Hub, where customers have access to computer labs, skills training, and employment programs, as well as the Built from Scratch Tech Lab, which provides access to music production and video editing workstations, DJ equipment, and a sound booth.
