You're More Creative Than You Think - with artist Judi Moreo
Winter Workshops Series
Monday, December 21
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Clark County Library
Paul C. Blau TheatreHave you ever looked at a painting and thought "I wish I could do that - but I don't have any talent"? For this special workshop, artist Judi Moreo will help you get past your fear of painting.
Discovering the Artist Within - No Paintbrush Required
Artist & instructor Judi Moreo believes that many people who say they "can't paint" simply have never been shown how artists learn to see. Painting isn't magic, and creativity isn't reserved for a talented few. Many of the skills artists use - seeing shapes, understanding light and shadow, recognizing color relationships, and breaking a complicated subject into simple parts - can be learned. Through stories, examples and a fascinating look at how artists see the world, participants will discover why fear of making mistakes often stops creativity before it begins, how artists work through those mistakes, and why it is never too late to develop your artistic abilities. No paints, brushes, artistic experience or "talent" are required. Just bring your curiosity and perhaps a willingness to reconsider one old belief: "I can't paint." By the end of the program, you may find yourself saying instead: "Maybe I can."
About the artist: Judi Moreo is an award-winning artist, certified art instructor, author and creativity teacher whose painting have received numerous awards including Best Of Show honors. She teaches painting throughout Las Vegas and is founder of The Center For Creative Expression, where she encourages people of all ages to discover their creativity.

Originally opening in 1966 as a three-room library within the Airport Annex building, the Clark County Library moved in 1967 to a storefront. In 1971, the library moved again to its current location using deeded land from the County and with money awarded by the Max C. Fleishman Foundation. The building went on to have two remodels: one completed in 1986, and the second completed in 1994, which resulted in the three-story, 120,000-square-foot building it is today. This redesign notably included a 399-seat theater and an 80-seat black box theater/dance studio. The Library District also added the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which provides a place for teens to explore and master new technologies and digital skills.
